Drogarati Cave lies 3km from Sami, in the area of Haliotata.

Situated at 120 m above sea level, the cave descends to a depth of 95 meters. The temperature is a steady 18 degrees Celsius.


The cave is regarded as one of the finest in Greece, the only one with such a large chamber 65m x 45m and about 20 m in height. It has served as the venue for concerts by M. Farantouri and the soprano Irene Karayanni.

Nature has created here a masterpiece of sculpture, in the form of the stalactites and stalagmites which have grown here over thousands of years.


The cave is a rare geological phenomenon and is open to tourists all day every day, from morning to evening.

Access to the cave is quite safe and it can be toured without any risk to the visitor; tours are supervised by friendly and experienced guides.
